Eggs and Heritage Meats
We raise a limited number of hogs, turkeys, and chickens. We try and choose our breeds from the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy list of rare and endangered livestock and the Slow Food USA Ark of Taste. We usually will have Buckeye chickens, Chocolate and Broad Breast Bronze Turkeys, and various hogs.
Animals are raised naturally, following humane animal treatment guidelines as we love our animals but they are working farm animals. All of our meats are processed at USDA approved plants that practice humane animal treatment. We use Sunnyside Meats in Durango.

Pre-Order your pastured pork now to be ready this fall. We only offer very few of these hogs so pre-order now to hold your stock. When you pre-order we require a deposit on your animal as this guarantees you an animal. Our animals finish out about 230-300 live weight and do dress down to a smaller amount. Our rates this year will be 2.85 lb hanging weight and you pay for process we will take the animals to Sunnyside Meats. This usually works out to roughly 4.50-4.87 per pound of naturally grown, organic (not certified), pork.
Our hogs enjoy the outside and pastured areas and are able to do what they do best which is root. We use them as tilling machines to clear the areas for our vegetables. They are hard at work tilling unimproved areas and returning green vegetation to the soil. Their sweet, juicy very lean meat comes from their gourmet diet which consists of local brewery grains, cracked wheat from the Cortez Mill, and vegetable scapes from our farm, soaked in raw milk from grass-fed goats and our cow, we also supplement from our left over whey from our cheeses. The resulting mash has a sweet smell and I have found it tastes great. We finish them on a wonderful diet of apples complements of Sparks Family Farm. This not only makes delicious pork, but healthier pork eating nutritious food.
